A pharmacopoeia
There’s a distinction to be made between chemistry and chemicals. Indeed, it is possible to apply the same rigorous scientific approach with natural, plant-based products. Our founders are scientists with deep interest in biological substances that have therapeutic effects. In other words, they’ve developed body care products that, aside from being natural and environmentally respectful, provide results and immediate benefits to those who use them.
A heritage
Mother Nature provides all the basic elements to fill our needs. By advocating for more elementary and authentic methods to making cosmetics, Maïkan Nature ensures its products are in synergy with the earth that nourishes us all. Through this, we honor her. Our formulas are natural and efficient, with nothing superfluous. Active ingredients are meticulously chosen, undergoing minimal transformation. Every formula and ingredient is used as authentically as possible in the making of our cosmetics, while also undergoing rigorous scientific methodology. For Maïkan Nature, ultimately what matters most, is that our products be both healthy and soothing for you and your family.
One pack, one family
Maïkan Nature is a family business founded by Kristina Imeson, with Gilles and Philippe Fortin. Active, professional environmentalists, the family uses their scientific knowledge and passion for preservation, to create products that reflect their values. In 2020, the environmentally-passionate trio added to their tight-knit pack, by welcoming Mélanie Albert, a formulation specialist with a no-nonsense approach to producing natural products with clean ingredients. With Melanie’s arrival, the pack added organic cosmetics to its line of natural products, all within a supportive family setting. The original trio named their company Maïkan Nature. In the Innu language, Maïkan means wolf. The language and totem are meaningful. Our First Nations have managed to preserve many of their traditions, by living off the fruit of their hunting, fishing and agriculture. This type of lifestyle, harmonious with nature, allows them to extract and consume only what their families actually need. The wolf has very strong symbolism: for starters, he’s a social being that never leaves anyone behind. Wolves are protective and altruistic with all members of their pack. They live and hunt in a completely interconnected environment.
A habitat
The Imeson-Fortin family built their workshop in Vankleek Hill, Ontario. Though this Canadian company’s administrative headquarters is located in Saint-Lazare, Quebec, the owners were enamoured with the country charm and soulfulness of this tiny agricultural town. Thus, the production site perfectly reflects the natural side of all products made by Maïkan Nature. This chosen geographical location for all production, helps the company conveniently serve Canadians for all their natural cosmetic needs.
